Grading Policy:
Grading in this class is realtively hard to assess until after the final exam. This is because the bulk of your grade is based there. It should be also understood that the final itself, although it is largely based on a list of requirements, is also about 50% based on intangibles such as effort, and style. Grading in this class is aimed largely at you receiving as near to an A as possible. This should not be mistaken however as a policy which guarantees you an A id you put little or no effort forward. See the table below to see how your final grade will be determined. Most students in this course (above 90%) receive a grade at a B or above and about 30-40 percent receive A's. Some students however do receive grades below this level.

HOW TO ACHIEVE AN A:

It is relatively simple to receive an A. The following things are required:

  1. Showing up for class
  2. Handing in all of the homeworks
    • Making sure that the homeworks are complete and correct.
  3. Going to seek extra help if you need it.
    • This should be done throughout the semester and not just the week before finals.
  4. If you miss a class get the assignment and complete it on time.
  5. Hand in the final project on time.
    • You will lose a up to a full class grade depending on reason that you handed your final project in late.
  6. Be respectful of your classmates and professor.

Class Attendance 10% Weekly Assignments 85% Final Project 0-5% Intangibles
This is manditory. Two unexcused absences will result in loss of letter grade. Three will result in failure in the class. This is department policy not mine. Weekly assignments are a test of your comprehension about a certain topic. If you take these seriously then your final project will come together quite easily thus providing you with a good grade. This will show me what you know about how to design web pages. You will have a set of requirements for the site and a topic. There will be no deviations from topic and/or the list of requirements. The due date is midnight on the day of the classes exam time. These fall into the categories of extra effort and quality of work. These although hard to judge absolutely are very present. The "extra mile" will account for this 5% of your grade. This is not enough to destroy your grade but it can give you a "B+ to A-" bump if your grade is borderline at the end of the semester.
